Each week during the school year the Sarasota Herald-Tribune selects boys athletes that stood out the week before based on a combination of coach reports and school nominations sent to sports htincoming@gmail.com and our coverage. Those athletes are put in a poll sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Health Network, Inc. each Monday on heraldtribune.com and you, our readers, vote on who you think did it best. To get to know our winners better, the Herald-Tribune will have a question-and-answer session with each athlete weekly.
The Herald-Tribune Boys Athlete of the Week sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Health Network for Oct. 27-Nov. 1, 2025, was Out-of-Door Academy football player Allen Clark, who won the poll with 52.73% of the vote. Clark, a senior running back, rushed for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, finishing with 20 carries for 143 yards and the two scores.
When and why did you start playing football?
Clark: I started playing in sixth grade. I came out because I was a little bigger at a younger age. I came out to try it, and I had fun, so I stuck it out.
What is your favorite all-time football memory?
Clark: I would say probably the bus rides to far away games. It was fun bonding and getting to spend that time with my teammates. We would play games, listen to music and talk about everything.
What was your favorite moment this season?
Clark: On homecoming night I had a 40-yard touchdown to seal the game.
What is your most humbling moment in football?
Clark: We played a pretty good team this year, St. Pete Catholic. They had some pretty good players, and they beat us pretty bad. Being able to play them was pretty humbling.
What is your goal in football?
Clark: To keep having fun. I started playing this sport because it was a lot of fun to me, so I don’t want to go away from that or take that out of the game.
Who is your favorite football player and why?
Clark: I’d have to say Ray Lewis. I like him because people fear him.
