The Bills need some help in their passing game. Maximizing some of the current players they have is part of that, and adding some talent to the receivers group helps as well.
The Bills signed veteran wide receiver Mecole Hardman to their practice squad. Receiving tight end Dalton Kincaid is out with an injury, and the front office has been working to improve at the position.
And a former teammate of Hardman and a member of an AFC rival club took notice.
Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill, who teamed with Hardman on the Kansas City Chiefs, had jokes.
Cheetah also threw his support behind Hardman, though, as well as the help he can offer Buffalo QB Josh Allen and his passing game to the 53-man roster.
Hardman started the season on the Green Bay Packers practice squad before being released in September. The 27-year-old has 16 receiving touchdowns, three rushing scores, and two touchdowns returning in a seven-year NFL career.
The versatile and speedy receiver spent six seasons with Buffalo’s AFC rival Chiefs, where he was a teammate of Hill’s. He’s already the Bills’ fastest receiver.
He was a second-round draft pick by Kansas City in 2019, and he won three Super Bowls with the team. In 80 pro games, he’s had 178 receptions, 258 targets, 2,302 yards, 16 touchdowns, 190 yards rushing on 26 carries with three touchdowns. As a return man, he averaged 9.2 yards on 89 punts with 23.8 yards.
He can help improve the Bills’ return game and provide the ability to stretch the field vertically as a receiver.
Both are areas of need for Buffalo.
The Bills scored a season-low 30-13 in Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins, and are looking for answers and improvements headed into their Week 11 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
