Need food assistance amid the SNAP crisis? Here's a list Rockford area pantries

The Trump administration has signaled that it will provide partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funds as a government shutdown continues.

With less food assistance immediately available, people across the region are turning to local food pantries for help.

Here is a list of area pantries and when they’re open.

Winnebago County

The Christian Union Pantry at 1705 Kilburn Ave. in Rockford is open from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays and 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

The Cornucopia Food Pantry, 402 Market St. in Rockford, operates from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and the third Saturday of the month.

Emmanuel Lutheran Food Pantry, 920 3rd Ave. in Rockford, is open from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays.

God’s Glory Food Pantry, 1250 S. Perryville Road in Rockford, serves residents in ZIP codes 61108 and 61109 from noon to 2 p.m. the third Saturday of each month.

The Neighborhood Market, operated by the Northern Illinois Food Bank at 1397 Sandy Hollow Road in Rockford, does not require ID and is open from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and noon to 2 p.m. Thursdays.

Old Stone Church Food Pantry, 101 East Union Street in Rockton, is open 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursdays servicing residents from Rockton, Roscoe, South Beloit, Harrison, Shirland and Durand. A photo ID and proof of residency is required. Call 815-624-6212 for more information.

St. Elizabeth Center, 1505 S. Main St. in Rockford, is open from 1 to 2 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Fridays.

The Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, 500 S. Rockford Ave., operates by appointment only from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

Souls Harbor Pantry, 2802 11th St. in Rockford, is open from 5:30 to 7 p.m. the first and third Mondays and noon to 1 p.m. the second and fourth Mondays.

The Rock River Valley Food Pantry Broadway, 1100 Broadway in Rockford, is open from 10 a.m. to noon weekdays. The Rockton Ave. location at 421 S. Rockton Ave. is open from 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Unity in the Community/Lighthouse Pantry, 4426 Virginia Ave. in Rockford, is open from noon to 2 p.m. the third Thursday of each month by appointment.

Voices of Inspiration Food Bank, 3112 N. Rockton Ave. in Rockford, operates from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Boone County

The B1 Food Pantry, located at 1105 7th Ave. in Belvidere, operates from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays.

Compassion Closet at First Presbyterian Church, 221 N. Main St. in Belvidere, is open from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Empower Boone, also known as the Belvidere Boone County Food Pantry, is at 200 S. 5th St. in Capron and is open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

The Northern Illinois Food Pantry has a location at United Auto Workers Local 1268, 1100 W. Chrysler Dr. in Belvidere. Residents should call 815-639-1257 for dates and times.

First United Methodist Church, 610 Bonus Ave. in Belvidere, also requires a call for dates and times at 815-544-3479.

The Salvation Army Belvidere, 422 S. Main St., is open from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. the first Wednesday of the month.

Ogle County

The Lifeline Food Pantry is open 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays at Conover Square Mall, 201 N. 3rd St., in Oregon.

Loaves & Fish Mount Morris, 409 W. Brayton Road, is open 2 to 430 p.m. the second and fourth Mondays of the month and 330 to 6 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of the month.

Good Samaritan Christian Food Pantry is open 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturdays at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 16060 East Lindenwood Road in Lindenwood. Bring a recent utility bill.

The Polo Lifeline Food and Self-Help Project, 113 N Green Ave. in Polo is open 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays. Call 815-946-2552 for more information.

People Helping People is open 10 to 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Monday of the month at Byron City Hall, 127 N. Washington St. Call 872-205-0799 for more information.

Stephenson County

Amity Society of Freeport Food Pantry is open 530 to 630 p.m. on the first, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 511 S. Liberty Ave. in Freeport.

Faith for Miracle Pantry, 3247 South Baileyville Road in Baileyville, is open the first Wednesday of the month by appointment and from 2 to 4 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month.

Faith Community Food Pantry is open 5 to 7 p.m. the third Thursday of each month and 9 to 11 a.m. the third Saturday of the month at Faith Community Church, 212 W. McKimmy St. in Davis.

Freeport Area Church Cooperative is open 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays at 890 W. Galena Ave. in Freeport.

German Valley Food Pantry is open 9 to 1030 a.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 66 State St. in German Valley.

Gospel Outreach of Freeport, 209 E. Spring St. in Freeport is open 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays.

Hearts That Care Inc. is open the first, second and fourth Thursdays and the third Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, 420 Challenge St. in Freeport.

Joseph’s Pantry, 406 South Adams St. in Freeport is open 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays.

Lena-Winslow Food Pantry is open 830 to 1130 a.m. Saturdays at 311 North Lake Road in Lena.

New Jerusalem Food Pantry, 4 East Iroquois in Freeport is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first, third and fourth Wednesday of the month.

Pearl City Food Pantry is open 9 to 11 a.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at Pearl City United Methodist Church, 411 South Main St. in Pearl City. Call 815-443-2177 for more information. The pantry serves anyone who lives int he Pearl City School District.
