Sarasota’s Veterans Day downtown parade and ceremony honoring local veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 11, will take over downtown, closing streets and shifting city and county schedules.
The annual Veterans Day parade, hosted by the City of Sarasota and the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee, will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Main Street and Orange Avenue. The procession will travel west and end at Chaplain J.D. Hamel Park at Main Street and Gulfstream Avenue, where a ceremony will take place around 11 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

Road closures and tow-away zones will be in effect starting early Tuesday. From 3 a.m. to 1 p.m., Main Street will be closed from Links Avenue to Bayfront Drive, and Osprey Avenue will be closed at the same time from Ringling Boulevard to Second Street.
The Bay Runner trolley will operate normal hours, 7 a.m.–10 p.m., but will detour between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. during the parade.
