Who's on my ballot in Chili? Election 2025 candidates

There are no contested races for the six town positions up for grabs in Chili this year. Residents, however, may still turn out to the polls to vote for their pick for a county legislature seat representing most of Chili, two state Supreme Court judgeships and a Family Court judge.

Below are a list of candidates Chili voters will find on their ballot. We sent brief questionnaires through the party chairpersons to candidates vying for a seat on the Monroe County Legislature. Those with expanded information and photos below responded to the questionnaire. Responses have been lightly edited for clarity and space.

Monroe County Legislature, 3rd District

Scott A. Hand, R, C

Age: 55

Top priority: As a candidate for the Monroe County Legislature, my priorities are public safety, fiscal responsibility, and responsive service. I support law enforcement and first responders, and advocate for common-sense budgeting that respects taxpayers. With 35 years at UPS, I’ve built a career on reliability, hard work, and showing up for others — values I’ll bring to public service. I believe government should work for the people, not the other way around. My goal is to ensure Chili residents feel heard, protected, and well-served through transparent leadership and practical solutions that reflect the needs of our community.

Marvin Stepherson, D, WF

Age: 59

Current or prior elected office: Previously served on the Gates-Chili School Board for 3 years.

Professional experience: Retired law enforcement sergeant (25 years), military veteran with the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard Reserve (27 years) and educator (13 years).

Top priority: My priorities are addressing food insecurity, expanding affordable housing, ensuring livable wages, and strengthening mental health and wellness support. With a lifelong commitment to public service — through law enforcement, the military, education, and community leadership ― I understand the challenges families face every day. I will work to build a more equitable Monroe County by promoting access to basic needs, supporting working families, and improving the systems that keep our communities healthy, safe, and resilient. My goal is simple: To create opportunity and dignity for every resident.
