LOOK: Former Michigan football duo Jim Harbaugh and J.J. McCarthy reunite in the NFL

When they were both in Ann Arbor, former Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh called quarterback J.J. McCarthy like ‘a favored son.’ And you could see, not just on the field, the bond between coach and player. But how would that relationship survive when the duo are on opposing sides in the NFL?

That happened on Thursday, with the Chargers playing the Vikings in Los Angeles. But perhaps the matchup wasn’t quite as elevated as it could have been as McCarthy has been injured since the early season. Thus, Harbaugh’s team faced Carson Wentz and Max Brosmer instead of McCarthy.

After the game, the former Wolverines duo met up after the game and it looked like a bit of a family reunion.

With J.J. McCarthy at the helm as a starter, Jim Harbaugh and company only lost one game — the 2022 College Football Playoff semifinal against TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Chargers won handily, 37-10.
