With the NFL trade deadline approaching, keep your eyes on the Indianapolis Colts.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Colts are viewed as a team “to watch” ahead of this year’s trade deadline.
Schultz adds that adding a “proven defensive playmaker” is on the Colts’ radar.
Between the Colts owning the best record in the NFL and there being some obvious holes on the defensive side of the ball, the recipe is there for GM Chris Ballard to make a move in the coming weeks.
The two positions in particular that could be on Ballard’s radar are cornerback, where the depth of that unit continues to be tested, and possibly at defensive end, where more juice opposite of Laiatu Latu could be beneficial.
Timely sacks and takeaways have helped cover up some of the issues that the Colts have experienced this season at those two positions. While splash plays are great, consistency is valued highly as well.
In terms of making a potential deal happen, the Colts have eight selections in the 2026 NFL draft, along with $4.188 million in available salary cap space this season, which ranks 28th in the NFL.
The NFL trade deadline is November 4th at 4:00 PM ET.
