The Chicago Bears defense was all over the field taking on a one-win New Orleans Saints team on Sunday, where they played a huge role in the 26-14 win that marked their fourth consecutive victory.
Coming into the game, Chicago had recorded at least three takeaways in each of their previous three games. They continued that trend against the Saints, where they forced four turnovers against Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler, including three interceptions (Nahshon Wright, Kevin Byard, Tremaine Edmunds), and one forced fumble from Montez Sweat.
For their performance, the Bears defense was praised in the locker room by head coach Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, complimenting every phase of the defensive effort.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Bears totaled four sacks, six forced incompletions, three interceptions, one fumble recovery and a 36.8% pressure percentage.
The Bears defense will continue to get tested over the next two weeks as they head on the road to face back-to-back AFC North opponents. While the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals do not have winning records this season, they’re both very dangerous offenses featuring some of the most dynamic players in the league, so Allen’s defense will have their hands full, but momentum on their side.
