The Florida State baseball program has landed a commitment from Hunter Wieckowski, one of the top pitchers in the 2027 recruiting class. He announced the news Wednesday on social media.
“I’m extremely excited to announce my commitment to Florida State University! Thank you to my family who have supported me over the years on and off the field! Thank you to the coaches who have pushed me to get to where I am today,” he wrote. “Finally, I want to thank the Florida State coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level!”
He is FSU’s third-highest-ranked commit and ninth overall. The class is led by Chase Fuller, the No. 1 player in Perfect Game’s ranking. Eight of FSU’s commits are from Florida, and they now have the No. 7 ranked recruiting class in the country.
Wieckowski is from Orlando, Florida, and had an excellent sophomore season for Timber Creek High School, where he played in 10 games. He finished the season with an 8-1 record and a 1.75 ERA. He allowed 13 earned runs in 52 innings, striking out 71 batters and holding opponents to a .199 batting average.
