PITTSBURGH — Dillon Gabriel was unable to turn his first career start into one that bucked historical trends in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings. The Browns quarterback has another chance in his second start.
This time, Gabriel is trying to become just the fifth Browns rookie quarterback since the 1970s merger to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s also trying to become just the second one to win in Pittsburgh, joining Tim Couch in 1999.
There’s also a little matter of helping Cleveland win its first regular-season game in Pittsburgh since 2003, also a game started by Couch. The Steelers have won 21 consecutive regular-season home games against the Browns in the Steel City.
