A Fort Gratiot man is facing multiple felony charges in Macomb County after reportedly going on a crime spree.
Thomas Edward Tackett, 52, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 6, after he reportedly broke into five homes in St. Clair Shores and Harrison Township, then led police on a car chase, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officials said four homes were occupied and one homeowner was stabbed with a fork.
Tackett is also accused of carjacking a man in Harrison Township, driving through and damaging the St. Clair Shores Golf Course, traveling the wrong way on I-94, causing property damage by driving through a homeowner’s backyard, and driving at dangerously high speeds.
Tackett was arraigned Thursday, Oct. 9, on 13 charges: one count of carjacking (punishable with up to life in prison), four counts of first degree home invasion (up to 20 years each), one count of second-degree home invasion (up to 15 years), one count of third-degree fleeing or eluding police (up to five years), malicious destruction of property (up to five years), malicious destruction of a building (up to five years), assault with a dangerous weapon (up to four years), resisting arrest (up to two years); and two misdemeanors, operating with a suspended license and reckless driving.
Tackett was denied bond in the case. A probable cause conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 21 before District Court Judge Jacob Femminineo in the 41b District Court.
