Westchester District Attorney Susan Cacace has fulfilled a campaign commitment with the formation of a Hate Crimes Advisory Board that will work with her office to identify and combat hate and bias in the county.
“The surge in hateful incidents over the past several years has alarmed all of us in this county, but it has especially concerned those who bear a disproportionate share of the hate dispensed by violent offenders,” Cacace said in a statement after joining the panel for its inaugural meeting on Monday, Sept. 29. “The communities represented on this board are broad and diverse, and board members will be able to provide me with direct input from their constituents so that my office may more readily address their concerns.”The panel will meet quarterly and work with the DA’s hate crime unit, Assistant District Attorneys Luis Felix and Brittany Burk and crime analyst Cristina Alston.
