Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean left Tampa Bay’s Week 4 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles with hip and groin injuries and is out for the game. He suffered the injury during the Eagles’ second offensive drive of the second half after the Bucs defense forced its second consecutive punt.
Rookie CB Benjamin Morrison will fill in for Dean and has been rotating into the cornerback rotation since returning from a hamstring injury suffered during training camp. Dean has struggled to remain healthy in recent years, which likely led to the Bucs drafting Morrison and asking Dean to take a pay cut this season.
Losing Dean could be a blow to a Bucs defense struggling to contain the Eagles’ defense. Down three scores, the Bucs have not stopped the Eagles’ passing attack to this point and have not been able to keep up offensively.
