Heading to Zach Bryan at Michigan Stadium? Parking, bag policies, alcohol and more

On Saturday, Sept. 27, for the first time ever, Michigan Stadium will become a concert venue, expected to welcome 112,000-plus fans for a night with country star Zach Bryan and opener John Mayer.

The concert — which is poised to set a U.S. concert attendance record — will likely be the first visit to the Big House for many showgoers.

Here’s what you need to know before you go.

Traffic

As U-M sports fans know well, Ann Arbor experiences extreme congestion on big event days, so plan on heading to the area extra early. Westbound I-94, in particular, is prone to lengthy backups.

And university officials are emphasizing another big point: Because they expect a music crowd that may not be familiar with the routine traffic patterns and choke points of game days, they ask fans to arrive with plenty of patience.

Parking

Many lots and garages at U-M are permit-only, so research ahead of time to ensure you’re navigating to an accessible spot.

Most parking areas will be open by early afternoon, and you can expect to pay anywhere from $25 to $100-plus. Advance reservations may be available at sites such as Pioneer High School and the Ann Arbor Golf & Outing Club.

If you’re up for the walk, a good bet would be to park a mile or more from the stadium, where you may even find free options.

Entry policies

No bags of any size are allowed. Bottles and other containers are also prohibited.

If you’re one of the 5,500 fans with a floor seat, you must head first to the northeast entrance of the Crisler Center (adjacent to Michigan Stadium) to scan your ticket and receive a floor wristband.

Times

Doors will open at 4 p.m. Music is scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. with the first of the night’s four acts, Kentucky singer-songwriter Joshua Slone, followed by Ryan Bingham and the Texas Gentlemen, then Mayer and headliner Bryan.

Alcohol sales

Following state approval of alcohol sales at public universities in 2023, Michigan Stadium began selling drinks at the start of the next year’s football season. Concessions will be available at standard spots around the concourse, along with temporary stands set up at field level.

Tickets

At the time of this posting, scattered tickets were available across Michigan Stadium, starting at $211, available at axs.com.

A variety of seats are also available from resellers, including at the AXS site and through third-party vendors such as StubHub and SeatGeek.

Full Michigan Stadium policies and guides are available on the venue’s website.
