Background: During grab bag of theatre, you never know what treasure you’ll discover – it could be a comedy, drama, musical – it will be a mystery until the actors take their places and begin reading a script that you most likely will not have heard of. It’s like a blind date with a show. Rated PG-13
What they’re saying: Since you don’t know what play you’ll see, we can’t tell you which of the performers said these quotes: “I love this character. He is so beautiful.” “Oh my goodness this play is so dark and twisty. You don’t know who you can trust!”
Take-home message: “I remember when I was a kid and the dime store had these brown bags that cost 50 cents all the way up to $10,” said Susan Rabideau, director. “I’d plunk my allowance down and couldn’t wait to rip open the grab bag to see what treasure awaited me inside. These Reader Theatre Grab Bags are just the same. Amazing scripts and great actors coming together for the fun and mystery of one night. And it’s cheap. Take a chance on the unknown. You might be delighted and if not you can leave at intermission.”
