Friends raise funds to make final arrangements for woman killed in wrong-way crash in Brevard

The family and friends of a 46-year-old Holly Hill woman killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 in Viera have set up a fundraiser to help with making her final arrangements in Jamaica.

The woman — identified in the GoFundMe post as Annmarie Heaven — was killed alongside her husband after a 34-year-old Cocoa woman traveling the wrong way on the interstate crashed head-on into their vehicle on Sept. 14.

The Cocoa driver, who Florida Highway Patrol troopers said made a U-turn on the interstate and was headed southbound in the northbound lane around 3:50 a.m., was also killed in the accident. Six other vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction series of crashes behind the initial accident, with six people treated for injuries.

“My heart is broken as I share that Annmarie Heaven, a mother sister, aunt, wife and wonderful friend to many has tragically passed away in a motor vehicle accident,”  said fundraiser organizer Alicia Henry of Daytona Beach.

Henry described Heaven as a “humble soul,” with a son attending college in Jamaica and a young daughter.

Henry added that funds would go to helping bring Heaven back to Jamaica for her final arrangements. Her husband was not identified.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers continue to investigate the crash, including why the Cocoa woman — whose identity was not released by troopers — made a U-turn on the highway.

So far, $2,345 of the $14,000 goal has been raised.
