MUNCIE, IN — A person was shot and critically wounded in downtown Muncie on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 18.
Melissa Criswell, deputy chief for the Muncie Police Department, said the shooting was reported shortly after 8 a.m. in the 400 block of East Gilbert Street.
The shooting victim — whose name was not immediately released — was taken by ambulance to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
“There is an individual detained at this time,” Criswell said in a release. “There is no continued threat to the community.”
The deputy chief asked anyone with information on the shooting to call the MPD’s detective division at 765-747-4867 or dispatchers at 765-747-4838.
