More pay to park has arrived in downtown Wichita Falls

Parking in downtown Wichita Falls may become more costly for visitors.

Pay-to-park signs have popped up on several vacant paved lots in downtown Wichita Falls that previously were used by drivers for free parking.

One is located at the intersection of Eighth Street and Indiana Avenue, another is nearby at Indiana Avenue and Ninth Street, and a third is on Ohio Avenue at Ninth Street.

Wichita County Appraisal District records show all three properties are owned by Wichita Tower Inc.

Signs erected at the lots this week indicate parking on the properties is managed by Dallas-based Parking Systems of America.

The signs do not display parking rates or indicate how the fees are enforced, but they indicate fees can be paid via scanning a code or texting.

An attempt to text message the company revealed the fee at the lot at Eighth and Indiana would be $1.45 for one hour, $2.45 for two hours and $3.47 for three hours. To pay by the day would be $13.86.
