The No. 19 Florida State Seminoles picked up a massive win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 1, and the offensive line was a major reason why. The unit dominated the trenches, allowing the Seminoles to run the ball at will and secure the 31-17 win.
While his group played well, offensive line coach Herb Hand made it clear on Tuesday that they were not perfect and they need to keep improving, especially their communication, even if they did more than enough to win the game.

“We have a lot of work to do. We have a lot of work to do. We got to clean up a lot of stuff,” he said. “We weren’t perfect by any stretch. We don’t need to be perfect to win. We didn’t need to be perfect to win that game. That game’s over too, by the way. But we didn’t need to be perfect. We just had to play our best, okay? And the communication amongst the five was great.
“They were great on the sideline, in between series, when we sit down in between series, and we talk about the last series. And we have the iPads now so we can actually watch the film of the last series, which is instrumental. And those guys did a great job of talking out, you know, things that happened on the field and fixing them.”
Hand also talked about Luke Petitbon’s ability to identify the defense, Jacob Rizy, Tommy Castellanos, and more. Watch his full press conference below.
