The Gator Nation celebrated the return of Florida football to the Swamp on Saturday night, rejoicing in a 55-0 shellacking of the visiting Long Island Sharks while ushering in the 2025 campaign.
There was no doubt which team was the superior one after the opening kickoff, with the Orange and Blue crossing the goal line first using its defensive corps. Meanwhile, DJ Lagway dazzled in his sophomore debut and true freshman Vernell Brown III showed off his elite receiving chops, while the defense put up goose eggs on the scoreboard.
Oh, and true freshman backup quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. also looked pretty good. Not too shabby.
All in all, it was an excellent evening for the sellout crowd — and uneventful as well, with no injuries or misbehavior taking place during the 40 minutes of play. As one would expect, everyone was elated with the results and you can see for yourself how many reacted on social media below.
