Tight end Ben Brahmer dominates in first half of Iowa State football vs South Dakota

Iowa State football’s offense was humming in the first half of its home opener vs. South Dakota, and the passing game was the biggest reason why.

Quarterback Rocco Becht was nearly perfect, completing 17-of-18 passes, and his favorite target was 6-foot-7 tight end Ben Brahmer.

The junior was unstoppable, catching all six of his targets for 32 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Cyclones secure a 27-7 halftime lead. His two scores already tie Brahmer’s career-high season total from 2023.

Both scores came in the back right corner of the end zone, with Bahmer’s second catch being especially impressive as he used his size and leverage to keep his defender from having any chance of knocking the pass down.

Bahmer tallied two catches for 41 yards in No. 21 Iowa State’s season-opening Week 0 win over No. 20 Kansas State in Dublin, Ireland, so his first score of the season came against the Coyotes.
