The New York Giants continued to tweak their 53-man roster and practice squad on Friday with a slew of moves that included adding recently cut wide receiver/kick returner Gunner Olszewski to the active roster.
To clear a roster spot for Olszewski, the Giants placed cornerback Rico Payton on injured reserve (IR).
Payton, who was primarily a special teamer with the New Orleans Saints in 16 games last year, was claimed off waivers on Tuesday.
Additionally, the Giants signed linebacker Zaire Barnes and offensive lineman McClendon Curtis to their practice squad.
Barnes was a former sixth-round pick of the Jets in 2023 and missed all of last season due to injury. Meanwhile, the Giants are McClendon’s fourth team since coming into the league as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023.
Finally, the Giants terminated the practice squad contract of linebacker Trace Ford. He was waived during final cuts on Tuesday, but was re-signed to the practice squad.
