Buffalo Bills practice squad tracker: The list includes some familiar names

The Buffalo Bills trimmed their roster to 53 players on Tuesday. Several of those who didn’t make the cut weren’t gone for long.

Wednesday, the Bills announced their practice squad and it included 14 players who had been cut on Tuesday. The only newcomers were Sam Franklin who has played the last five years for the Panthers, and Jordan Poyer, the former Bill who spent 2024 with the Dolphins.

The Bills have a 17th spot because offensive lineman Travis Clayton is part of the International Pathway Program so he gets an exemption, so they still have a vacancy. There was a report that former Commanders edge rusher Andre Jones is joining the squad, but his name was not included on the list just released by the Bills.

Once the season begins, practice squad members can be elevated to the active roster up to three times per season. After that, a team must sign the player to the 53-man roster for them to appear in additional games.

Among the names not on this list as quarterback Mike White, who has lost out to Shane Buechele in the role of scout team quarterback. Tight end Zach Davidson is not back, nor is wide receiver KJ Hamler.
