The Jacksonville Jaguars released their initial 53-man roster, and included were two members of this year’s undrafted rookie class.
Making the team were defensive ends BJ Green and Danny Striggow.
During the Jaguars’ final preseason game against Miami, Liam Coen mentioned that Green vs. Striggow was a “final roster battle” taking place in that game.
Both players would rise to the challenge in that game and continue to impress, as they have all summer. Striggow logged two pressures and a sack, while Green recorded one pressure and a sack.
Over the full preseason, Striggow totaled six pressures and two sacks. Green had eight pressures and a sack, according to PFF.
Among all defensive ends during the preseason, Green ranked eighth in PFF’s pass rush productivity metric and ninth in win rate.
By keeping both Green and Striggow, the Jaguars went heavy at defensive end with six on the roster, along with having 11 defensive linemen in total.
