Like Howard Cross III, former Notre Dame wide receiver Beaux Collins took an unconventional route to make an NFL roster.
Both players went undrafted, but were picked up quickly following that process. For Collins, it was an opportunity to show the New York Giants that he belonged, and he did that and more. On Tuesday his hard work paid off, as the Giants named him to their 53-man roster.
Collins had multiple good showings during the preseason, and with some injury concerns around Malik Nabors, it opened the door for him to make the team. He took advantage of the opportunity, and will now start his post-Irish career as part of an NFL roster.
It’s a great look for Notre Dame, as it shows the roster was on par with many of the other teams that had more players drafted. Sure, these two didn’t hear their names getting called, but did enough to force their way onto the team.
Congratulation to Beaux, we will all be rooting for you to make a huge impact with the Giants.
