MARSHFIELD – Students and their families are preparing for the 2025-26 school year, which is set to begin today. We know purchasing school supplies, coordinating transportation plans and establishing schedules are crucial to those preparations.
Here are a few things parents, families and community members should know as the School District of Marshfield begins its first days of class.

When is the first day of class in the School District of Marshfield?
School District of Marshfield students have their first day of school on Aug. 26.
What time does the school day start and end?
Start and end times vary by grade level. Most elementary school students begin their days at 7:45 a.m. and end at 2:50 p.m. Nasonville Elementary students start at 7:15 a.m. and end at 2:40 p.m. The middle school begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:55 p.m. Marshfield High School students begin at 7:45 a.m. and end their days at 3:15 p.m.
Where can I find school supply lists?
School supply lists can be found on the district website.
When will we find out busing information?
Parents and guardians of both public and parochial schools may find bus route information through the district’s website.
Is there ongoing construction that may impact travel to the schools?
Construction at Grant Elementary School funded by the $71.5 million referendum approved by voters in November will impact student pick-up and drop-off procedures.
The most significant change is the closure of the pick-up/drop-off lane in front of the school. Signs will direct drivers to a temporary lane through the parking lot area where students should exit vehicles on the driver’s side and make their way toward Door 3 to enter the building.
Because of limited space, a second pick-up/drop-off option will be available in the school bus circle along West Upham Street after the buses have left. Buses leave the circle around 7:40 a.m., which leaves about a 15-minute window for students to be dropped off and make their way to Door 4, or the rear entrance to the building. Students arriving after 7:55 a.m. must enter through Door 3 in the front of the building. Students may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. to the front drop-off area.
For afternoon pickup, students in grades 5-6 and their younger siblings must be picked up from the bus circle after all buses leave around 2:45 p.m. Students in Grades K-4 must be picked up from the pick-up zone in front of the building after 2:50 p.m.
Parents and guardians may begin to enter the front student pick-up area with their vehivlces at 2:45 p.m. District staff recommend early-arriving drivers wait on North Walnut Avenue. Drivers must remain in their vehicles as there is no parking allowed on the street. More details and videos describing the temporary changes can be found on the district website.
When are breaks and the last day of school?
Students will enjoy about 24 days off throughout the school year, depending on which school they attend. Some of the most significant breaks include Thanksgiving break, Nov. 26-28; winter break, Dec. 24-Jan. 2; and spring break, March 16-20. The last day of school is scheduled for May 29.
