Buns & Patties, a new burger concept coming to Berkley, will offer late-night hours

A new burger joint with late-night hours is coming to downtown Berkley.

Buns & Patties, a concept from three metro Detroit childhood friends, plans a fall opening at 2375 Coolidge Highway in Berkley.

David Pinkhasov, Mark Isakov and Vlad Shamayev, who grew up in metro Detroit and are Jewish immigrants, are the team behind Buns & Patties.

“There’s a huge gap in late-night dining options around here,” co-owner David Pinkhasov said in a news release. “We wanted to create a spot where people can count on great food and a fun vibe after a concert, a shift, or a night out.”

Inside the 1,400-square-foot space, which was a former Tubby’s, there will be counter and banquette seating for 30 people and a fast-casual, comfort food-style menu.

A huge bonus the owners are touting is the restaurant’s late-night hours for when a burger (or other sandwich) craving hits or for those working a late shift and looking for a quick meal.

According to a news release, the trio began working in the restaurant industry in 2012, and opening the restaurant is a longtime dream.

“We came up in the industry together, dishwashing, bartending, and managing. We’ve seen every side of the business,” co-owner Mark Isakov said in a news release. “This has always been our goal, and we’re proud to bring that dream to life right here in Berkley.”

The menu highlight of the Buns & Patties menu is its signature smash burger, with two beef patties layered with cheese, house sauce and pickles on a toasted bun.

Also on the menu is a crispy fried chicken sandwich, short rib grilled cheese, chicken tenders, seasoned fries and soft-serve sundaes.

Inside the planned vision is a space that blends “old-school diner charm with a modern edge” amid wood finishes, tilework and neon accents.

Buns & Patties will be open until 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Late night hours are until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Online and drive-up window ordering will be available.
