Hunter Greene dominates for 6 IP in return from injury for Cincinnati Reds

He’s back. Finally.

Hunter Greene, the Cincinnati Reds’ Opening Day starter, made his long-anticipated return from a double dip on the injured list for a Grade 1 groin strain and dominated the powerful Philadelphia Phillies lineup on Wednesday night for six scoreless innings.

Greene allowed just three hits, including a two-out double to Kyle Schwarber in the sixth. Schwarber advanced to third on a wild pitch before Greene struck out Bryce Harper on his 85th pitch to finish his outing.

That was the sixth strikeout of the game for Greene, who lowered his season ERA to 2.47 in 12 starts this season.

It was Greene’s first start since June 3 and just his fourth since May 7.

He left the game in favor of reliever Graham Ashcraft with the Reds leading 4-0.
