Police ID man found dead in Lubbock home, investigation ongoing

Officials on Thursday identified a man who was found dead earlier this week in a Lubbock home, but the cause of his death and other circumstances remained unclear as the investigation is ongoing.

A Lubbock police news release states the investigation began after officers were dispatched about 2:20 p.m. Monday for a report of a dead body at a home in the 1100 block of 35th Street. Homicide investigators responded to the scene.

In a statement Thursday, police confirmed the man was later identified as 41-year-old Michael Cunningham following an autopsy. But the cause and manner of his death remained unclear and police were still investigating the circumstances.

Investigators with the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit are investigating the case, the release states.
