One of Evansville's busiest intersections will see 'intermittent closures' this week

EVANSVILLE – One of the city’s busiest intersections will see “intermittent closures” as work continues on the Lloyd Expressway.

Crews will shut down “various lanes” at the Lloyd and Burkhardt Road for 15-20 minutes at a time Thursday (Aug. 7) and Friday (Aug. 8), the Indiana Department of Transportation said in a news release. The closures will allow workers to install new signal wires.

Most of the work should wrap by Friday, but it “could extend into early next week,” the release states. Flaggers will direct motorists around the closures.

The project is part of the Lloyd4U project that’s riddled Evansville’s main artery with closures and orange barrels from the East Side to the Posey County line.

Work on the Burkhardt interchange began earlier this year. Both it and the Lloyd’s intersection with Cross Pointe Boulevard will be fitted with displaced left turns in each direction.
