A Streator man has been arrested on charges that he fatally shot a 17-year-old in April

A Streator man has been arrested on charges that he killed a teenager on Easter this year.

According to a news release from the Streator Police Department, Tyler D. Skerett, was taken into custody July 28 in Chicago by the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Skerett has been charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated battery, aggravated discharge of a firearm and armed habitual criminal.

Streator police officers responded to a report of gunfire on April 20 at the intersection of Main and Sterling streets in Streator, the release states. They later located a vehicle and three individuals with gunshot wounds at OSF Center for Health in Streator. A 17-year-old was pronounced deceased. Charges were filed against Skerett, and a warrant was issued.

On July 28, Skerett was booked into the LaSalle County Jail in Ottawa.
