The reports came from west of Green Bay and De Pere after thunderstorms hit the area. Scott Berschback, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service Green Bay, said there was some minor damage reported near Black Creek, but they’re still determining what caused the damage.

At about 6 p.m. July 23, people reported a damaging tornado between Lena and Oconto in Oconto County.

While a tornado has not been confirmed by the weather service in Oconto County, trees and powerlines were down in the town of Underhill, according to Underhill Fire Department chief Mark Winkler.

Winkler said some people were trapped in their homes near Berry Lake due to the storm.

“Yesterday was mainly confined to northeast Wisconsin. The two main storms moved from the Menominee County area near Keshena,” Berschback told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “The other one was just south of that from Big Falls, towards Seymour.”

The weather service has confirmed that the town of Keshena in Menominee County was hit with an EF1 category tornado July 23. This means that the three-second gust of the tornado was between 86-110 mph.

Berschback said the weather service also received unofficial tornado reports from the Clintonville Fire Department in its area.

How much rain did the Green Bay area get July 23?

Green Bay received 1.37 inches of rain July 23, with most of the rainfall occurring between 5:30-6:30 p.m., Berschback said. Areas west of Green Bay received heavier rain amounts, with 2.35 inches reported at the Wausau Downtown Airport.

Here’s some other rainfall totals in the area, according to the National Weather Service Green Bay:

Will the rain continue?

The Green Bay area is forecast to have a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. July 24. There’s a 50% chance of rain after 1 p.m. July 26, according to the National Weather Service Green Bay.
