Florida Highway Patrol troopers are looking for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian and then left the scene on July 23 in Silver Springs Shores.
According to FHP, a passerby called authorities about 11:25 p.m. and told them a body was in the right turn lane of County Road 464 (Maricamp Road) just east of Bahia Road.

Troopers believe the pedestrian was walking within the westbound right turn lane of Maricamp Road. The vehicle was westbound in that lane and struck the victim.
The area where the walker was hit is dark with no street lighting. The victim was pronounced deceased at the location, troopers said.
The victim is described as a 66-year-old man from Ocala. The FHP no longer provides names in its crash news releases.
FHP asks for the public’s assistance in finding the driver and vehicle involved. The agency says the vehicle will have damage to the front grille/hood area. The front grille has a gray color.
Anyone with information about the incident can call Cpl. Justin Bard at (512) 512-6643, Crime Stoppers at (352) 368-STOP, or visit OcalaCrimeStoppers.com.
