One person was killed and another seriously injured when a motorcycle collided with a truck Tuesday evening in the Village of Elmira Heights.
The crash took place shortly before 10 p.m. July 22 at the intersection of Grand Central Avenue and East 14th Street, according to village police.
Arriving officers located two victims in the roadway who had sustained significant injuries, police said. The driver of the truck remained on the scene.
The victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Officers were later notified the operator of the motorcycle died from his injuries. The passenger on the motorcycle was in critical condition, police said. No names have been released at this time.
Elmira Heights police were assisted at the scene by the Elmira Heights Fire Department, Erway Ambulance, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, Horseheads Police Department and New York State Police.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing, and no further information will be released at this time, police said.
