As students prepare to return to the classroom in the next few weeks, parents may be holding out to purchase school supplies, clothing, footwear and backpacks in anticipation of the tax-free weekend.
In Texas, you can buy qualifying items in-store, online, by telephone, mail, custom order, or any other means, according to the Texas Comptroller website. Qualifying items can be purchased tax free from a Texas store or an online or catalog seller doing business in Texas.
In the Lone Star State, all clothing, backpacks, and school supplies must be valued at less than $100 to qualify.

When is tax-free weekend in Texas 2025?
The 2025 sales tax holiday begins Friday, Aug. 8, and goes through midnight Sunday, Aug. 10.
