Four people injured in separate shootings in Peoria over the weekend

Four people were shot in four different shootings in Peoria over the weekend, according to the Peoria Police Department.

Early Saturday morning, around 1:21 a.m., an 18-year-old woman was shot in the feet on the 2300 block of West Starr Street. Police were alerted to the area by a ShotSpotter alert which indicated 12 rounds had been fired. The victim’s injuries are considered to be non-life-threatening.

One person was shot Saturday morning on 2200 block of West Proctor Street around 6:26 a.m., police said. The victim, a 24-year-old male, told police he was standing on Proctor Street when he heard gunfire and tried to flee the area. He was struck by gunfire while fleeing and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were alerted to the area by ShotSpotter, which indicated that 44 rounds had been fired in the area.

Later Saturday night, around 11:29 p.m., another 24-year-old male was shot in what appears to be an attempted robbery gone wrong near the 3000 block of North Sterling Ave and North Renwood Ave.

The victim told police he was shot after agreeing to meet someone to buy a pair of shoes. During the deal a struggle broke out and the man was shot. The suspect fled on foot. The victim was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, according to police.

On Sunday afternoon a 33-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet in South Peoria following a ShotSpotter alert that 12 rounds had been fired on the 1400 block of South Greenlawn Avenue around 4:35 p.m.

The woman had an abrasion on her arm that she believed was from a passing bullet. She was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
