We’re rapidly approaching the finale of “Love Island USA” season seven.
Peacock’s hit dating competition has broken viewership records since its early June premiere while showcasing steamy make-outs, multiple meltdowns and several controversies. Former islander Cierra, who was coupled up with Floridian Nic before she was removed from the villa, posted an apology video on Instagram during Wednesday’s weekly break from the show.

Cierra breaks silence after being dumped from the villa due to controversy
After her sudden departure from the villa earlier this week, Cierra Ortega broke her silence late Wednesday evening.
While she was in the villa, one of Cierra’s past Instagram stories resurfaced on Reddit and TikTok, in which she used a derogatory term toward Asians. She also used the same slur in an Instagram caption in 2015.
According to reports from fans, she allegedly lost over 300,000 followers within a few days of the posts being exposed.
The 25-year-old opened her nearly five-minute video on Instagram by issuing an apology to “not just anyone that I have hurt or deeply offended, but most importantly, the entire Asian community. I am deeply, truly, honestly, so sorry.”
She went on to explain she did not know the racist origins of the word and removed it from her vocabulary after her followers brought it to her attention in 2024. She also shared that she agrees with the decision to remove her from the villa.
“I completely agree with the network’s decision to remove me from the villa. I think that this is something that deserved punishment, and the punishment has absolutely been received for sure,” she said.
She ended her video asking those to stop attacking her loved ones, sharing that ICE had been called on her family and death threats have been made.
“We’re not here to justify or ignore what’s surfaced. We understand why people are upset, and we know accountability matters. But what’s happening online right now has gone far beyond that,” the lengthy statement said, in part.
“The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it’s heartbreaking. It’s uncalled for. And no one deserves that kind of hate, no matter what mistake they’ve made.”

Peacock confirmed to USA TODAY that the Season 7 finale will air on Sunday, July 13, at 9 p.m. ET.

Each season’s winner is the couple that gets the most viewer votes as the favorite couple in the villa.
During the finale, the winning couple with the most votes gets envelopes. One envelope has prize money, and the other is empty. The person who receives the prize money can choose to keep it for themselves or split it with their partner.
