To cap off an exciting 2024-2025 school year full of big-time sports action, you spent two weeks voting on our poll to determine who would be this year’s Female Athlete of the Year.
And you chose Rockford Christian’s volleyball star Maddie Anspaugh.
“It’s a really cool feeling to know that the community is watching and really paying attention to volleyball, and what we’re doing,” the 6-foot-1 senior said this week. “And, I guess, they’re watching me some, too.”
Anspaugh committed to Clemson a year ago, and last season she had 519 kills, second in the state on MaxPreps. She now has 1,123 career kills. She led Rockford Christian (30-5-2) to its first-ever Big Northern Conference title last season, and is aiming for more big wins this season as a senior.
“It’s a pretty exciting year coming up,” she said. “I can’t wait for it to get started.”
She reeled in nearly 25 percent of the votes on our Female Athlete of the Year poll the past two weeks to edge out a strong contingent of Rockford-area girls.
