Nyack New Orleans-inspired restaurant Sundays Kitchen & Bar has closed. What we know

Sundays Kitchen & Bar, which billed itself as “a Cozy New Orleans-inspired restaurant and bar in the heart of downtown Nyack,” has closed. Sundays’ last day was June 8.

The restaurant, which opened last November, has no formal announcement on its social media or website but instead has signage outside its door claiming the space is for rent.

It’s among a recent rash of Lower Hudson Valley spots that have called it quits after a few years of business. Those include The Stag’s Leap in Sparkill (what formerly had been Six23 Social), LEMAK Malaysian in Scarsdale, 140 Kitchen in Peekskill, Mamaroneck Social Bar & Lounge in Mamaroneck and, ironically, Crawdaddy’s Creole Kitchen in Pleasantville, another restaurant with a Big Easy focus.

On the plus side, Nyack has seen the openings of two new dining establishments in the past three months — Kantina Kita and Louie’s Next Door — with one more coming.

Tamarind, which has a location in Poughkeepsie, should open sometime later this summer in the old Brix N’ Ale space on 20 South Broadway. Diners can expect a menu that honors the South Indian style and Indo-Chinese fusion of the Himalayas, while elevating traditional dishes with modern fusions. There will also be a bar and lounge featuring craft cocktails, an extensive wine list, and top shelf liquors.
