A 29-year-old Orlando man has died from his injuries after being shot in the abdomen in a Deltona altercation, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said on July 7.
Green Lanot was taken by his girlfriend to an Orange City hospital after being shot in the abdomen around 3 a.m. on July 1, court records show. Lanot was later transferred to a Sanford hospital, where he had surgery. He died on July 3, according to Andrew Gant, a sheriff’s spokesman.
Thomas A. Calderon, 37, was booked into the Volusia County Jail the following day and has been charged with second-degree murder with a firearm. Calderon is expected to make his first appearance in court on July 7, with a formal arraignment scheduled for July 31.
The shooting occurred at a home on Flagami Terrace in Deltona. Investigators say Lanot and his girlfriend were arguing about staying out late when Calderon, who was wearing a handgun in his waistband, said “he would not allow disrespect in his house,” court documents show. Calderon then shot the victim in the abdominal area.
While the Sheriff’s Office narrative reported Calderon lived at the Deltona home where the shooting occurred, court records also list his address as a Sanford apartment.
