Ever since hiring JJ Redick to be their head coach a year ago, the Los Angeles Lakers have been starting to emphasize the development of young players. They started building a player development staff and have been looking to get younger and more athletic overall.
Over the weekend, it was announced that they had hired Justin Robinson to be a player development coach. Robinson had been with Duke University, where he was the director of player development, and had the opportunity to work with notable players such as Cooper Flagg and Khaman Maluach.
Robinson was a player for Duke from 2015 to 2020, and he had served two seasons as the school’s director of player development.
Robinson won two ACC championships during his time with the Blue Devils and was named a team captain during his senior season. He is the son of Hall of Fame center David Robinson.
