As Ryan Wingo prepares for his second season with the Texas Longhorns, expectations are higher than ever. During the 2024 campaign, the St. Louis native demonstrated that he could be relied upon regardless of who was under center. With one year of experience under his belt, Wingo is ready to take his game to the next level.
In his first season at the Forty Acres, Wingo hauled in 29 catches for 472 yards. He also found the end zone twice and averaged 16.3 yards per catch. While the talented wide receiver battled injuries, he was one of Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning’s most trusted weapons when healthy.

Following his first taste of SEC action, Wingo is a veteran in a receiving room full of new faces. That includes talented true freshmen Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench and redshirt freshmen Parker Livingstone and Aaron Butler. Along with junior DeAndre Moore Jr., the Longhorns should have an offense that frustrates defensive coordinators.
Now that Wingo is in a more leadership role, he will be in a prime position to set new career highs across the board. Last year, he had to battle with Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond for targets. Golden is now a Green Bay Packer, and Bond has battled off-field issues. That leaves Wingo and Moore as the most experienced wide receivers on the depth chart.
For Manning, having an experienced option will be a helpful weapon. This upcoming season will mark his first stint as the Longhorns starting QB. In a small sample size last year, he showed that the future with him under center is bright. With the start of the season only weeks away, Wingo is ready to build on his success ahead of what could be an unforgettable 2025 campaign.
