New breakfast, brunch and lunch option opens in Cape Coral

Breakfast, lunch and brunch lovers will have another option in Cape Coral.

First Watch has opened the city’s second location — this one in the Shops at Midpoint Center on the northwest corner of Santa Barbara Boulevard and Veterans Parkway. It took over the previous home of Beef ‘O’ Brady’s.

“I was down at our Naples store before this,” said Caleb Kimble, the newly crowned general manager of the bright and shiny new spot. “The Naples one has been there for 23 years. It’s not quite as large as this one.”

That’s not the only difference between the two.

Splashes of color in an industrial setting

“Each location has its own little flair,” Kimble said. “New locations have their own unique murals. They also tend to have a coffee bar, like the one here. Older ones typically have a community table instead, like the Naples one.”

In a sea of industrial grays, whites, blacks and wood tones, the mural in the Cape location provides a splash of color with two dolphins diving in front of a large yellow sun.

“There were a lot of renovations to the place,” Kimble said. “We did change the layout in the kitchen line. We redid everything out here. And it’s my understanding that it wasn’t so bright before.”

There’s a small seating area in the large entry, and live plants are scattered throughout, adding more color.

The space to the right upon entering is a sunroom. Air-conditioned now, two big garage doors can open to let the breeze in as the temperature cools down.

The new location is off to a good start since opening on June 23.

“It was a little busier than we expected,” Kimble said. “But, you never know. It’s hard to gauge.”

A menu full of options

The menu is the same here as it is at all other First Watch locations — griddle items, egg-sclusives, omelets, frittatas, and power bowls fill one side of the menu, while the other features salads, sandwiches, sides, and small plates.

“We sell tons of pancakes and chickichangas,” Kimble said. “My favorite is the pesto chicken bowl with poached eggs added on top.”

There’s a full liquor license too with signature cocktails including Million Dollar Bloody Marys, mimosas, a Pomegranate Sunrise, and even a Cinnamon Toast Cereal Mix with coconut rum, cold brew, oat milk and agave nectar.

“It’s a great new location,” Kimble said. “The staff loves being here. We’re all positive and happy. It’s a great environment.”

Stop by First Watch to see that positivity for yourself. It’s open 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily at 2514 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral. Follow on Facebook for more.
