SAULT STE. MARIE — Residents on both sides of the St. Marys River had the rare chance to walk across the bridge connecting their twin cities on Saturday, June 28 during the annual International Bridge walk.
The International Bridge, which spans 2.8 miles, connects Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Once a year, the walk allows people to cross the bridge on foot and celebrate the connection between the two Saults.
The walk started on the Michigan side of the bridge, with participants enjoying scenic views of the river and freighters passing by, as well as the Soo Locks as they walked across. American walkers took a bus back across the bridge once they were on the Canadian side.
