Body recovered of motorcyclist who fell off Taylor-Southgate Bridge after collision

Crews have recovered the body of a motorcyclist who fell from the Taylor-Southgate Bridge into the Ohio River after a traffic collision, Cincinnati fire officials confirmed to The Enquirer.

On Monday evening, the man’s body was recovered by Boone County Water Rescue about 100 yards up from the suspension bridge, and about 300 feet off the Cincinnati bank, Cincinnati fire officials said.

Newport police said the biker, whose identity has not been released, collided with the back of a car stopped in traffic on the bridge around 8 p.m. Saturday, June 28. He was ejected over the side of the bridge, police said in a news release.

After witnesses on the riverbank reported seeing the motorcyclist in the water, rescue crews responded to the scene. The search continued overnight, through Sunday and then into Monday.

While the motorcyclist hasn’t been positively identified, investigators have notified the family of the person they believe to have been operating the motorcycle, police said.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the collision.
