Wichita Falls wins Altus Trophy

The Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce on Friday accepted the Altus Trophy, which recognizes communities that support Air Education and Training Command bases.

It was the first time since 2011 that Wichita Falls was recipient of the award, according to the Sheppard Air Force Base Facebook page.

SAFB said on its website the Altus Trophy is presented annually by the Altus Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee in partnership with Air Education and Training Command. The Altus Chamber selects the winning community based on its demonstrated commitment to the mission and personnel of the base.

Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson, AETC commander, made the presentation.

Sheppard’s website said Robinson lauded the positive impact the city of Wichita Falls “consistently makes in the readiness and wellness of the Airmen in Training …, permanent party members and the families who inhabit the installation and the local community.”
