See where On3 ranks FSU addition of Trey Beard

Florida State baseball’s 2025 season ended with a loss in the Corvallis Super Regional to Oregon State, and they are now focused on building the best roster they can for the coming season. In that, they have been active in the transfer portal, even as the Men’s College World Series just wrapped up.

Within the portal, the Seminoles were able to land Trey Beard, who On3 is calling the seventh-best transfer prospect in the nation.

Beard, a former Florida Atlantic Owl and left-handed pitching prospect, is now a Seminole. In two years, Beard has improved his ERA from 5.51 to 3.28, while bumping up his innings pitched from 65.1 to 85. Bears has also improved his strikeout count, going from 68 in 2024 to 114 in 2025.

On3’s article described Beard as “one of the best pitchers in college baseball,” and looking at his raw stats, it’s hard to argue otherwise. His ERA was the 50th best in the country a season ago.

Current Seminole Jamie Arnold is likely going to the MLB draft, and while he was ranked as the 38th best pitcher according to the NCAA standings, Beard could fill the large shoes left behind by Arnold nicely.
