Tyreek Hill says he'll work on Jalen Ramsey to stay with Miami Dolphins: 'Full court press'

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill looks to be pulling out all of his cards to keep his cornerback in Miami.

Jalen Ramsey has been a subject of discussion for the Dolphins this offseason as the cornerback out of Florida State was confirmed to be on the trade block by Dolphins general manager Chris Grier.

Hill was asked about Ramsey at Fanatics Fest in New York on June 22 and described his plan to get Ramsey to stay on the Dolphins.

“I’m going to hang out with Ramsey next week man,” Hill said. “Full court press. I’m getting Ramsey back in a Dolphins uniform, I don’t care what they say.”

Hill, 31, was in trade rumors earlier this summer, but the rumors have died down as Hill has voiced his excitement for playing in Miami next season.

Ramsey, 30, joined the Dolphins in 2023 and has played 27 games over two seasons with five interceptions and 16 pass deflections.

Jalen Ramsey contract

In September 2024, Ramsey signed a three-year, $72 million contract extension. At the time of the extension, Ramsey was the highest paid cornerback in NFL history at $24.1 million a year. Ramsey is due to make $24 million guaranteed over the next three years.

If Ramsey were to be traded, the Dolphins will encounter $29 million in dead money on the salary cap. Trading Ramsey later will split the hit over the next two years.

Tyreek Hill 2024 season

Hill’s last season has been nothing but a whirlwind. After the final game of the Dolphins’ 2024 season, Hill spoke to media after the game and left a message that sparked many rumors.

“I mean for me, like I said man, I just gotta do what’s best for me and my family, dawg,” Hill said. “If that’s here, or wherever the case may be, man, I’m going to open the door for myself, dawg. I’m opening the door. Like, I’m out, man.

“You know, so, it was great playing here, but, you know, at the end of the day, bro, I gotta do what’s best for, you know, for my career, and you know, what’s best … because I’m too much of a competitor to be, you know, just out there.”

Hill would take to social media and make a post to his X account that further ignited the rumors.

In April, Hill posted the “peace out” emoji on his X account. Although it is said that the message was a response to a post from national NFL reporter Albert Breer. Hill was tagged in a headline titled, “If I were the Miami Dolphins, I’d think about trading Tyreek Hill.”

Hill finished the season with 81 receptions for 959 yards – his lowest mark since 2019 – and six touchdowns a significant drop from his All-Pro first-team numbers the year before. The loss of starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for six games was a factor in Hill’s production.
