Meet the intriguing five-star basketball prospect that has Florida State in his sights

If you want to win, you have to go after the top prospects. That’s probably what the FSU men’s basketball recruiting staff is thinking deep into June and in head coach Luke Loucks’ first year at the helm.

Five-star power forward prospect Caleb Gaskins has Florida State in his sights after an offer was given in May of 2025. The 6’8″ athlete from Columbus High (FL) told Jamie Shaw of On3Sports that the Seminoles “just started recruiting me.”

According to 247Sports, Gaskins is rated as the third-best player in the state of Florida and the fourth-best power forward nationally.

He added that “They love my versatility, especially my ability to defend the ball and also make shots.”

Gaskins told On3 that he is “focusing on the recruiting process” now and will take a majority of his visits when he returns to school in the fall.

On the current roster, Florida State has a few power forwards. Most notably, three-star sophome AJ Swinton and three-star senior Chauncey Wiggins. If the Seminoles were able to land Gaskins, that would make him likely an immediate contributor in their offense.
