The woman was walking east on the west shoulder of the interstate, south of Colonial, off the shoulder and into the inside lane, FHP says.

The front of the truck hit the woman, causing the vehicle to come to a controlled stop on the west shoulder of I-75. The woman came to a final rest on the east shoulder of I-75, where Lee County EMS pronounced her dead, state police said.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate this fatal traffic crash, FHP said in the release.
